The Timemore Chestnut Manual Coffee Hand Grinder series is a comprehensive lineup of precision hand grinders built for coffee enthusiasts who value control, consistency, and long-term reliability. Designed to support a wide range of brewing methods from espresso to French press, the Chestnut range evolves from beginner-friendly models to competition-grade tools. Each generation reflects Timemore’s continuous refinement of burr geometry, bearing stability, adjustment precision, and overall ergonomics, making the series suitable for home brewers, travelers, and advanced users alike.

The C2 model established the Chestnut name with its dual-bearing shaft, aluminum body, and 38mm stainless steel conical burrs. It uses an internal stepped adjustment with approximately 83 microns per click and 12 clicks per rotation, offering approachable grind control for pourover, AeroPress, and French press, with espresso achievable at finer settings. 

The C3 refined this platform with harder HRC55–58 stainless steel burrs and the introduction of proprietary S2C660 burr geometry, which slices beans before cutting to reduce fines and improve extraction clarity. Bearing stability was also improved, allowing tighter grind ranges and smoother operation. The C3 espresso variant further tightened adjustments to 20 microns per click with 30 clicks per rotation for better espresso dialing.

The C5 represents a significant redesign, upgrading to larger 42mm burrs and a 5-axis cutting structure for improved efficiency and particle uniformity. Adjustment precision improved to 30 microns per click with 48 clicks per rotation, while the espresso version offers 15 microns per click with 50 clicks per rotation. The grinder chamber increased to 30g capacity, the body became fully metal, and a numbered external dial was introduced for clearer repeatability. Improved bearings, an anti-slip silicone base, and engraved body texture enhance both performance and handling. Pro and ESP Pro versions add a foldable handle for portability without sacrificing rigidity.

Beyond the C-series, the Nano series condenses Timemore’s S2C660 burr technology into a compact 15g-capacity body, using a 38mm SUS420 stainless steel burr and a spring-assisted foldable handle with a walnut tip. This model prioritizes travel efficiency while maintaining grind consistency across espresso, pourover, and immersion brewing. 

The Slim Plus E&B focuses heavily on espresso, using 5-axis 420 stainless steel burrs with carbon steel reinforcement to maintain cutting stability at very fine grind sizes.

At the top of the range, the Chestnut S3 is Timemore’s flagship manual grinder. It features experimental S2C890 burrs designed for maximum uniformity and clarity, paired with an external lens-style adjustment dial. This system offers 90 clicks per rotation at 15 microns per click, with burr movement precision down to 7.5 microns. High-precision bearings, an all-metal integrated body, and balanced weight distribution make the S3 suitable for advanced espresso and high-extraction filter brewing. Its adjustment ranges allow extremely fine tuning across espresso, moka pot, pourover, and French press.

All Timemore Chestnut grinders are supplied with a fabric carrying pouch and a nano cleaning brush. For care and maintenance, avoid exposing the grinder to water or moisture. Do not wash or soak any components. Clean regularly using the brush, dry cloth, or air blower, and use grinder cleaning pellets occasionally to absorb coffee oils. Avoid grinding oily or flavored beans, as these can affect burr performance.
